Visiting Old Town Dubrovnik. Strongly built to withstand pirates and invaders, Old Town with its high walls and bastions was once considered to be among the greatest fortification systems of the Middle Ages. Dubrovnik is widely renowned as one of the world's finest and most perfectly preserved medieval cities in the world.
Pile Gate. Dating back to 1537, Pile Gate is a stone gate at the entrance to Dubrovnik Old town. This is a constantly busy site but is worth a visit due to its wonderful sculptured stone, Renaissance arches and historic significance. It is exceptionally beautiful when lit up at night, or during the guards, which also happens at night.
The walking tours are operated and managed by us, Dubrovnik Walks. The combo of these 2 tours (3,5h combined) is 36 Eur per person, we believe this is a reasonable price, and we have not changed it in the last 8 years. Walls entrance is now even more expensive, in 2022 it is 250 kn per person (cca 34-35 Eur).
Budva. Another city we recommend visiting in Montenegro is Budva. Famous for its medieval walled city, sandy beaches with clear water, and great nightlife, Budva is the center of Montenegro tourism. Budva Old Town is 2.500 years old, which makes it one of the oldest settlements on the Adriatic coast.
